A Mild Winter Climate
Victoria has a temperate climate that is usually classified as “marine west coast” with mild winters and relatively dry and mild summers. Victoria is also the driest location on British Columbia’s coast. Our city gets more sunny days than surrounding areas. With its mild temperatures and plentiful sunshine, Victoria boasts gardens that are home to many plant species rarely found elsewhere in Canada. The city takes pride in the many flowers that bloom during the winter and early spring. Every February there is an annual “flower count” in what, for the rest of the country and most of the province, is still the dead of winter. This unique climate has made Victoria the destination for people who wish to escape harsh weather and snow storms during the winter season.

The Red Lion Inn & Suites is centrally located on Douglas Street, Victoria’s main street, nearby the island’s largest shopping mall and 2 other shopping plazas. Within a 5 to 10 minute walk, our quests can easily access shopping malls, super markets, restaurants, banks, a library, fitness center and medical clinics. We are also situated on the world-famous Galloping Goose Trail, which provides a unique way to discover Victoria by walking or biking. Douglas Street has major bus routes to various locations. There are two elevators in the hotel complex that provide easy access for everyone to all levels and all facilities. Over 280 parking stalls for our guests are provided at no charge. Free use of a computer with high-speed internet is provided for our guests in the hotel lobby. Laundry and valet service is available, and there is a 24-hour guest laundry on-site. For our guests dining pleasure, our award-winning Hong’s Restaurant serves generous portions of Chinese specialties and the V Lounge offers casual meals and cocktails.
